Young Money's Drake shows off the lighter side of his famous lifestyle with the new release of his "Headlines" music video off the forthcoming Take Care sophomore album.
Released Sunday (October 2), the video was reportedly shot in his Toronto, Canada hometown.
Drake revealed the album art for his upcoming sophomore album Take Care a few days ago and now we have the first set of visuals for the album as well. Shot in Drizzy's hometown of Toronto, the video for first single "Headlines" features him parading around his hometown, rapping, smoking cigars, and enjoying the company of his posse. OVOXO. (Lost In The Sound)
Drizzy is also spotted in various spots throughout Toronto like a sports stadium and in an elevator.
The video itself seems to reflect this theme, pleasures and the pitfalls of fame, to an extent, with its repeating visual of the singer riding a high-rise elevator up and then down, over and over again (Get it? The "ups and downs" of fame?) - wearing sunglasses and smoking a cigar, no less. Other recurring motifs include an all-male gathering of friends (toasting to Drake's success, per the lyrics), Drake in a sports stadium, and Drake standing in front of a seemingly-vacant, graffiti-adorned apartment building that...well, that I'll assume he never lived in, given that he grew up in one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Toronto. A few days ago, Drake announced plans to premiere his video over the weekend.
"Headlines Video Sunday 6pm on www.octobersveryown.net," he tweeted September 29th. (Drake's Twitter)
Speculation of a music video began to bubble across the Internet last week.
Footage from the shoot leaked earlier this month. Drizzy was surrounded by members of his OVO crew, all dressed in black, as he filmed scenes at the historic Guild in his hometown of Toronto. "Headlines" is the lead single from Drake's sophomore album Take Care. (Rap-Up)
Take Care is slated to drop Monday, October 24th.
