It's cold, cold world out there for rappers trying to keep their album on lock 'til the official release date, but y'all already know that. Between the studio, mixing table, packaging and the back of the store, there's mad ways a CD can hit the streets and e-streets early.

The "unleakable" Watch The Throne beat the odds and made it safely to consumers the night of its slated release, but damn, RocNation artist J. Cole's debut LP, Cole World: A Sideline story wasn't as lucky: A leaked version of the album popped up online this week, just 7 short days from the date it was to be officially unveiled.

Which leads to our question of the day: Why was WTT able to avoid being leaked but Cole World was not?

You would think there would be more security around this album for a few reasons, namely, because its the debut of RocNation's #2 man. Even if WTT had leaked a week early, the star power attached to it would have ensured gold, and eventually platinum sales. Safeguarding that album like it was a nuclear missile was party for commercial reasons and partly to build suspense around what it would even sound like. But Cole World is an entirely different animal.

Cole has alot riding on this thing: In today's fickle sales climate, lackluster numbers could literally seal a rapper's fate. In an era where every single sale counts, you'd think they'd guard this joint with two pitbulls, a couple of Money Team goons and a sniper on the roof. It'll be interesting to see how the leak will affect sales, as the album continues to get passed around the net like Amber Rose nudes.

Does Hov have the same interest in Cole World as he did WTT? Hmmm ... hope so. As it stands, Jay is still his own bestselling artist, and understandably so: His legacy was cemented in Hip-hop over a decade ago. One would think he'd put soldiers in place to ensure the same can one day be said for his up-and-coming spitters.

SOHH Watcha Think -- Did RocNation drop the ball by allowing Cole World to leak?
