Young Money's Drake is following in the footsteps of labelmates Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne by landing a scheduled October performance on televised sketch comedy show "Saturday Night Live."
According to reports, Drizzy will hit the "SNL" stage around mid-October.
On October 15, Drake will make his "Saturday Night Live" debut in an episode hosted by Anna Faris. NBC made the announcement Monday (September 26), also revealing that Ben Stiller and musical guest Foster the People are booked for the October 8 show. Drake's appearance will come just before the release of his sophomore effort, Take Care, which hits stores October 24 (also his birthday). It also marks the second time a Young Money artist has graced the late-night sketch show this year; Nicki Minaj served as musical guest back in February. (MTV)
In January, Minaj took her talents to the show by performing in a few sketches.
Hide your kids, hide your wife, hide your husband. Nicki Minaj is on the "Creep!" The hip-hop hottie joins comedy trio The Lonely Island in an "SNL Digital Short." Nicki plays a geeky school girl named Point Dexter, who stalks the boys locker room to get a peek of the fellas, later showing up at a wake. "So get your knees flexin' and your arms T-Rexin' and creep," commands Nicki on the track, which is now available on iTunes. Follow her lead. (Rap-Up)
Last winter, Weezy and Eminem performed together on the popular comedy show.
As Saturday Night Live guest spots go, it doesn't get much more ferocious than this: Lil Wayne and Eminem teamed up last night to make sure SNL ended 2010 with a bang for the last new episode before the new year. Not only did this high-wattage duo expertly perform "No Love", their 90's-dance-sampling collaboration from Em's Recovery, but each of the rap megastars also got a chance to wow us solo. (Idolator)
Over the weekend, Drake released the cover art to his upcoming Take Care album slated to drop days after his "SNL" performance.
"Feels like it's been so long. Is life moving so fast in this generation that when we desire something it begins to move in slow motion? Are we just used to getting what we want right away? Or do we require one another to feel right about all that is going on around us? Maybe our anticipation is justified by the fact that we genuinely cannot wait to share a moment again? Either way, your life and mine are scheduled to meet on October 24...I wouldn't miss it for the world." (October's Very Own)
Take Care is slated to drop Monday, October 24th.
