Grand Hustle's B.o.B. has provided an update on his forthcoming sophomore album and said fans can expect to hear a slightlly more mature Bobby Ray this time around.
Although he did not provide a release date, the Atlanta rapper said his LP is practically finished.
"Hopefully fans will be able to hear the new album very soon," B.o.B. said in an interview. "I'm as impatient for you to hear it as you are. It's a more mature sound but nothing too experimental -- It's a happy medium between the sound of B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray and the mixtapes, so everyone should be able to enjoy it. I'd say I'm 90 percent done with it right now, but the album title is still TBA." (The Daily Orange)
In May, Bobby Ray gave details on what the studio grind had been like for his upcoming album.
"I feel like I'm about halfway through it, and I wouldn't even say because of how many songs I have," said B.o.B in an interview. "It's kinda like as an artist you absorb, it's like a sponge, you absorb it and then you gotta give it back out. I still feel like I got more to put out. I got more to say. So I can record songs all day, but until I get everything out that I want to say, that's pretty much what the wait is...I feel like it's all about timing -- It's the right timing and I haven't revealed the name of the album yet, but I've been working on this since before The Adventures of Bobby Ray, so it's a real special project." The rapper's debut landed atop its competition in May 2010.
As expected, fans of the XXL Freshman alum picked up 84,200 copies of his new disc over the last week, according to the Nielsen SoundScan. The rapper/multi-instrumentalist currently has both the No. 1 album and No. 1 song ("Nothin' On You") in the country. His second single, "Airplanes," is currently working its way up the charts--landing at the No. 9 spot just last week. (XXL Mag)
While his sophomore album is nearly complete, B.o.B. recently said he had an interest in working on a country record.
"I want to produce a country album for a country singer," B.o.B. explained in an interview. "I feel like country music has a certain kind of pocket. It all sonically [comes together]. Are you ready to get satisfied sonically? And then I want to do an album that is completely meditation music -- It's going to be like a little project. It won't just be for people who like to sleep to it, meditate or are into yoga. It'll be like even if you weren't into all that, you'll be listening to it and thinking: 'Man this is dope, yeah!'" A release date or album title have not yet been announced.
