Reggae dancehall singer Sean Kingston opened up about his near-death jet ski crash last May and how it took multiple life-or-death procedures to make a strong recovery on his "MTV First: Sean Kingston" special last night.
According to Kingston, he was forced to return to the hospital after medical staff discovered he had a heart condition.
"I'm doing good. I'm feeling great. I'm excited. I'm happy," he said during the special. "A lot of people don't know it was a deeper situation. I had open heart surgery and I had two other surgeries; it was a life-or-death situation...They were gonna send me home, but then I had felt a pain in my left chest, and I told my mom. They rushed me and they did a lot of scans on me, [and] they said I couldn't leave." ("MTV First: Sean Kingston")
Despite the hospital stay, Kingston said he has fully recovered and is back to making music.
"I've been in the house chilling, about to start work on my new album. I got L.A. Reid now as my new president. I got a story to tell now," Kingston said referring to Reid's placement as Epic Records CEO. "What the accident basically taught me is, in life, you have to count your blessings -- You just got to keep God present at all times and think about the consequences." ("MTV First: Sean Kingston")
A few weeks ago, Kingston gave his first public performance in Miami.
Nicki Minaj's Miami Barbz got a double surprise when Sean Kingston and Trina joined the Pink Friday rapper onstage during her performance on Britney Spears' "Femme Fatale" tour at the AmericanAirlines Arena. A visibly slimmer Sean hit the stage for the first time since his jet ski accident to perform his island-flavored single "Letting Go (Dutty Love)" with the blonde Barbie. But that wasn't all. Miami's Diamond Princess Trina connected with her fellow bad b*tch to spit her verse on "My Chick Bad." (Rap-Up)
His near-death jet ski crash took place last May.
Rapper Sean Kingston is in a Miami area hospital Sunday night after crashing into a bridge while riding a watercraft, officials said. The crash happened around 6 p.m. EST when Kingston drove his jet ski into a bridge connecting Palm Island to the MacArthur Causeway. Kingston and a female passenger were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Reports say he may be in critical condition. (Chicago Tribune)
