Slaughterhouse's Joell Ortiz has stepped forward to clarify remarks he made toward Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch the Throne joint album and admitted he may have prejudged the project too early.
Mr. Yaowa said he only heard a few tracks upon downplaying the album's content.
"That may have not been me. Yeah, my phone was dead last night," Ortiz jokingly said about his controversial tweets. "I ain't get a chance to lock in on it. I heard like two or three joints, and I thought it was OK. It was cool. I gotta hear the whole project to give my full opinion. I heard two or three on the radio I believe, yesterday, and they were cool." ("Shade 45")
Prior to removing the tweet, Ortiz taunted fans supporting Jay and Ye's new LP.
"You B*tches need to get off them n*gga's lap sittin on that so called throne already. Quit being them n*ggas court jester-monkey. #nohate" (Joell Ortiz's Twitter)
Earlier this week, Jay-Z nemesis Game rated Watch the Throne a 7 out of 10.
"Yeah [I heard the album]. The Swizz [Beatz] one is crazy, the Frank Ocean one is crazy too. Yeah. Some people haven't even heard it yet, that's bad. I think it's a good, good seven," Game said when asked by radio host Jenny Boom Boom to rate it from 1 to 10. "Seven. Yeah. Well, you know six points went to Kanye. [R.E.D. Album] is not going to be better than Watch the Throne. So you don't gotta worry about that. [How come?] What? Did you just hear that [record]? I can't compete man, but, The R.E.D. Album is pretty decent. It's going to sound like Lil Zane's first album. We working. August 23rd, R.E.D. Album in stores." ("Jenny Boom Boom")
A few days ago, producer 9th Wonder admitted Watch the Throne did not fully satisfy him.
"#WTT as a whole is not for me. I can rock with New Day & The Joy," he tweeted August 8th.
"As a musician/beatmaker/active participant in hip-hop, I want to be SCARED when I hear something, like when I heard Aquemini." (9th Wonder's Twitter)
