Weeks after promising to flood the streets with a new underground project, Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris has now revealed the name of his upcoming mixtape.
According to Luda, his forthcoming project is called 1.21 Gigawatts.
"We'll put a mixtape out before we get it all the way right. I'm actually doing a mixtape and it's called 1.21 Gigawatts on y'all a**es, get ready for it," Luda said in an interview. "Gigawatts, that equals to a billion watts and so we basically taking it out of control. This whole thing is something you're going to pump louder than anything you've ever heard in your life, basically. It's definitely for the streets." (Shade 45)
A couple weeks ago, the Atlanta revealed his plans to put out a mixtape before a retail solo album.
"I'm working on a new album called Ludaversal, but, I'm also working on a mixtape man, so we're gonna flood the streets with a bunch of music for all the fans that appreciate stuff," Ludacris revealed in an interview. "This is like my first time doing, like, I've done mixtapes before but this is my first time in terms of, it's going to be new music. We're gonna put it out there and it's been ten years. It's a decade long. It's time. It's rejuvenation. We gotta make sure we give everybody what they need right now." (Kube 93)
In April, Luda said his upcoming LP would live up to the hype.
"There's no way I can put it into words," Luda said referring to the new LP. "When you hear the album you'll know. People can expect me to take it to a level they know I'm capable of. If anybody has doubts, I have no problem continuing to prove myself. And I have no problem slapping the ones who're sleeping to make them wake up. It's about consistency." (All Hip Hop)
A few weeks prior, Luda revealed his intent to drop the LP before 2012.
Ludacris is prepping his eighth studio album, 'Ludaversal,' for a late 2011 release. During a visit to 102.7 KIIS FM's Ryan Seacrest morning show on Tuesday (March 29), the Atlanta rapper confirmed that fans could expect a follow up to 2010's 'Battle of the Sexes' later this year. "I'm just getting started on it, so hopefully by the end of this year," Luda explained. The anticipated album will include production from the Neptunes. Besides the beatmaking duo of Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, the 'My Chick Bad' performer declined to reveal more details. (The Boom Box)
