With the summer heating up and fans anticipating new music from Lil Wayne and Drake, SOHH recently hit up Young Money's Gudda Gudda to find out if he feels pressure by his team.
Despite the platinum success of YM's Nicki Minaj, Drizzy and Lil Wayne, Gudda Gudda said he always remains cool.
"Sometimes I don't ever let [the pressure] bother me," Gudda Gudda told SOHH about being on a label with rap stars like Drake and Nicki Minaj. "I'm really good at toughening things out and you'll never see it in my face. You'll never see the pressure on my face. I'm always going to remain calm and stay strong in any situation. I always will stand tall and do what I gotta do. Everybody's working over here. We're all trying to figure out when everyone's going to be putting out albums. There's Tha Carter IV coming, most likely you're going to hear from Tyga. You're definitely going to hear from [Lil] Twist and Tyga real soon. I'm thinking by the end of the year or top of next year you might hear from me and Jae Millz." (SOHH)
Lil Wayne recently talked about his high hopes for Drake and Nicki Minaj.
Luckily for Wayne his superstar Young Money signees, Drake and Nicki Minaj, are sure to keep his pockets fat in his absence. In fact, Birdman, Jr. counts on it. "You already know what I expect," Weezy says of Drizzy and Nick's imminent success. "I expect to eat, and eat well. I expect [Drake] to be a lot more successful than he has ever been. I mean, this guy's a superstar. He is the definition. That's what I told y'all before he was: 'That's the definition of a superstar.' And like Nicki, he's only breaking ice. He has yet to be who he's going to be. I'm banking on them." (XXL Mag)
A few weeks ago, Drake announced plans to drop a new single this month.
"The single's dropping a week-and-a-half, two weeks. It'll be fun. It's going to be a blast," Drake told FADER writer Judnick Mayard. "It's great. I'm really excited about it. Just trying out different things, different sounds, different flows... We're all in a really great place in our lives just as a team, the team's coming together. 40's doing really well. We've got new editions. We have this affiliation with The Weeknd. It's really great. He's on the album a bunch. I'm excited about it just for the people to hear the evolution of the music." In April, Minaj hinted at plans to announce her sophomore album.
"You'll get another album within 12 months," she told KIIS FM's JoJo. "You'll get the announcement for the next album in--and I'm saying the announcement--that you'll get the announcement in September. That's all." But for now she'll stay busy promoting her new single "Super Bass" and its video, set to arrive in the next week. Videos for "Did It On'em" and "Fly," her collaboration with Rihanna, have also been shot. (Rap-Up)
