[After he was recently named as the Creative Director of the Reebok Classics brand, Swizz Beatz reflects on why he chose to kick it with the renowned sneaker company.]

[I'm] taking the "Renaissance Man" to the next level and making that title mean something more than ever in 2011 and going forward. As far as partnering with a major brand like Reebok and being able to help bring the brand back to the level, we're trying to be number one.

Everything that I do, I'm trying to make history. If I can't vision making history with that certain partnership and brand, I can't be a part of it. Everything that I've been doing, I've been able to achieve. Whether that was with [helping design] Aston Martin, whether it's with Louis Vuitton, whether it's back in the days when I started Kid Robot, my music, it's a whole bunch of things that I got going on and I feel the same synergy with Reebok giving me the keys and letting me do what I do.

It's not only on some urban level but really on a global level. They're letting me take the whole business model to the next level. I don't have an endorsement deal. I don't have a 'Swizz Beatz' sneaker. The Kamikaze [sneaker] is just a part of what we're doing as an entire brand. I'm [involved] in all categories from apparel to stuff we're doing in the art world, basketball and just everything from A to Z.

The initial announcement was the Kamikaze and seeing that selling out in 10 minutes was great motivation for me to keep going hard.

There's a couple announcements that's going to be made as far as [celebrity] endorsements. I'd rather let the announcements come out themselves but I'm definitely looking across the board to enhance the face of the brand from all genres. Not just with music but from everywhere. There's tastemakers and artists that people respect in the art world. Our goal is not going out and grabbing as much star power as possible because that was done before. Our goal is to really go and grab people who love what they're doing in the design, art and fashion world and really have something to bring to the table. It's not just about getting people and cutting checks to. That's like moving backwards and I plan on helping the company moving forward with the turbine engines on it.

Swizz Beatz was recently announced as Creative Director of the Reebok Classics brand and will be influencing all aspects of the line, including creative campaigns and product. The first release from this new lineup is the Limited Edition Kamikaze.
