Brooklyn rapper Fabolous is reminding fans to not become too comfortable with his new S.O.U.L. Tape underground project by revealing plans to drop his forthcoming Loso's Way 2 solo album by summer's end.
While an exact date has not yet been cemented, Fab is looking to drop the LP on the 10-year anniversary of his Ghetto Fabolous debut.
"The next album is coming in September, so I'm working on that, trying to finish that up," Fab said referring to Loso's Way 2. "We're looking to do that around September 13th. September 11th is actually when my first album dropped, ten years ago, that was also the tragic day of 9/11, so you know, my album dropped that same day. And we kind of want to do a ten-year anniversary kind of feel. So, we looking for September 13th. I'm working with a lot of guys. It's still in the baby stages, so I don't want to give too much of the info out right now but it's soon to come. Everything will be out there." (Hot 106)
Last April, Fab said he decided not to give the project a definite deadline in order to have it come together organically.
"The album, we just started on that. I really just got a lot of beats on that, picking beats out or whatever. Then I lock in and attack the beats, like a monster in a cave. [Laughs] I drag the beats back to my cave. [Deadline?] Not really. I usually have deadlines but I don't. They tell you what time you need to do something, and it's like, 'Okay, I work toward that time, but if it's not ready, it's not ready.' But I'm definitely not the type that will just let something not come out. There's a couple [of] albums right now that people have been talking about for a year..." (XXL Mag)
In May 2010, Fab said he hoped to put the project out by the fall.
"I'm trying to get it out there for Thanksgiving," Fab revealed in an interview with radio host Tim Westwood. "I think Thanksgiving will be a great time. I'm just grabbing up all the beats. Once I get all the bones of it, I can just lay the skin right on top of it. I kinda got where the concept of where I want to go with it but I just got to find the music to pull it all together. I've got about 12 beats right now, looking for maybe about four more. And I worked with more young, hungry producers this time. Last time I had a lot of big features and producers but this time I wanted to shake the chemistry up a little bit..." (Tim Westwood TV)
Around December 2009, Fab initially said the project could drop sometime in the second quarter.
"I'm looking to come next summer," Fab said of the album's release date. "I like summer releases. It's good timing. People are out, a lot of people need good music to ride to. I'm looking towards June or July again and come with Loso's Way 2." As of now, the roll-out for the original Loso's Way is still underway. Fab wants to release viral visuals for "Lullaby," "Last Time" and "Makin' Love," while a clip "I'mma Do It" hit the 'net a few weeks ago. (MTV)
