[SOHH features a new entertainment personality each week to speak on who they feel is the most underrated artist. After Big Sean gave Common the title earlier this week, director Vlad Yudin names fellow Chicago rapper Twista SOHH Underrated.]
Even though he's had huge commercial success, I feel Twista should get more respect. So I'm going to name Twista as my SOHH Underrated pick. I feel like he's done so much.
You can argue that he's one of the most lyrical artists and yet he is still able to have commercial success as well. I don't think anybody can do what he does. His lyrics are amazing, and if you look at his track record over the years, you can definitely argue he should be in that category as one of the most lyrical ones.
I feel like Twista is underrated to the point where you have to remind people to bring his name up [when conceiving] an underrated list. I feel like he really deserves that spot. Twista should be up there with the greatest.
I can agree with Twista [previously] naming himself as SOHH Underrated. We talk about it in the Mr. Immortality [Twista] documentary as well. I think there are a few artists as well you can name, but I feel like he deserves [the title].
As I said, he's got commercial success and put out lots of albums and been here for so long but you can still call him SOHH Underrated at the same time.
Vlad Yudin is a movie director who made headlines throughout 2009 for releasing his Big Pun: The Legacy documentary, which detailed the late rapper's rise to fame through interviews with friends, family, hip-hop artists, actors/actresses and business executives. He is also responsible for directing Twista's Mr. Immortality film documentary.
