No offense to the individuals out there who are diehard Tupac Shakur fans, myself included, but were we all a bit hoaxed by the rapid headlines Wednesday (June 15) promising a story about the man responsible for shooting Pac?

While refraining from pointing the finger at any one media outlet, it appeared widely amazing how many headlines simply read: "2Pac's Shooter Confesses" and "Man Admits Shooting Pac." Sadly though, upon clicking the link to a story which probably drove traffic up on every blogger's website, we came to find out the real joke was on us.

Dexter Isaac? Huh? While the confession is still a huge story by itself, I will not lie and say I still feel a bit cheated. A man currently behind bars confessing to a botched robbery/shooting of 2Pac that took place two years before he was actually fatally shot?

"I want to apologize to his family [Tupac Shakur] and for the mistake I did for that sucker [Jimmy Henchman]," Dexter Isaac told AllHipHop.com from prison. "I am trying to clean it up to give [Tupac and Biggie's] mothers some closure." Isaac said he was comfortable going on record relating to the robbery and shooting, since the statute of limitations had expired. Legally, no one can be prosecuted for the assault at this time. Isaac was a lifelong friend of Jimmy Henchmen, who helped the former mogul set up his first company, Henchman Entertainment, in 1989. (All Hip Hop)

The first thought running through most people's minds was likely, "Wait, what about the murder?" It is interesting how many stories/headlines likely lacked the '"94 Shooting" signifier which likely would have still gotten clicks but not as many without it in there. The confession of a convicted felon in a position where the crime does not hurt his current predicament and once again paints Jimmy Rosemond as a bad guy is sort of...old news, no?

Only time will tell if this may possibly lead into something much bigger, hopefully drawing us one step closer into learning who is responsible for the fatal shooting of 2Pac. Until then, the journey still carries on.
