Young Money's Nicki Minaj recently chopped it up with hip-hop personality Funkmaster Flex on his "Full Throttle" television show and shared her reaction to being named "New Queen of Hip-Hop" by Rolling Stone magazine.

Admitting the recognition came as a shock, Minaj said she is just great people are noticing her grind.

"It was very, very amazing to me," Minaj said. "I was so excited 'cause [Rolling Stone's] really respected, and then when I went on all the TV shows, they kept on saying, 'She's been dubbed the New Queen of Hip-Hop by Rolling Stone magazine,' so I was like, that happened at the perfect time...I'm honored because I obviously have been working hard to get to this place. Whether or not I'm the queen of anything, everybody's gonna have their own opinion and I don't do this thinking I'm the queen of this, I'm the queen of that. I just feel like I'm working hard and I just want people to recognize that." (Rap-Up)

Last November, Rolling Stone paid its respect to Minaj by giving her a huge co-sign.

Lil Kim may not agree, but the newly dubbed "Queen of Hip-Hop", Nicki Minaj, has definitely stolen the hearts of Rolling Stone Magazine. In the new spread featuring the Young Money Princess, Nicki opens up about her success in the industry and why being famous wasn't her agenda behind making it in Hip-Hop. (Bossip)

Earlier this year, SOHH hit up Dipset A&R Duke Da God to get his take on Minaj's image and overall talent.

"With the females, it's kinda hard," Duke told SOHH when asked about giving Minaj some feminine competition. "You gotta find somebody that's attractive to the eye but can write her own music. Nicki Minaj, man, she's a phenom. That's why I have a respect for artistry because Nicki makes it look easy but it's not. That's why I have a lot of respect for dope artists like Prince or even like a Ne-Yo. Nicki and them get in and make it look easy. I just think if the talent comes across my desk or my e-mail, I'm gonna know it. It's so hard. It's not as much talent as you think. People aren't always as talented and you think they are. In my opinion, Nicki Minaj is a blessing." (SOHH)

Since its debut last November, Minaj's Pink Friday album has sold over a million copies to date.

Young Money's star Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday received a one-slot boost to No. 37 with 12,600. After 25 weeks on the chart, her debut album stands at 1,369,000 sold units. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
