G-Unit's Lloyd Banks has decided to place on hold on his Cold Corner 2 mixtape in light of plans to put together a follow-up to last year's Hunger For More 2 solo album.
Breaking the news via Twitter, the "Punch Line King" explained his unexpected decision.
"Sorry everybody..but I'm not putting out the cold corner..working on my album..," he tweeted Tuesday (May 31). (Lloyd Banks' Twitter)
The first Cold Corner mixtape dropped over two years ago.
The Boy Wonder originally released The Cold Corner back on January 1, 2009. The tape, hosted by DJ Whoo Kid, featured 14 tracks and served as the third installment in his "5 and Better Series." (Hip Hop DX)
Back in September, Banks revealed his intention to fall back on releasing mixtapes.
"Well Whoo Kid, he's on like, he's suspended right now, at the moment," Banks said in an interview. "I made that guy so much money and did so many mixtapes with him. I put out five mixtapes in a year. He's been hitting me lately because he knows I'm getting ready to drop, so he's pressing me for a mixtape but I don't know man. I know I'm gonna scatter material out so they're gonna be hearing freestyle material on radio shows, the Internet, sprinkling it all around. But as far as a whole body of work on a mixtape, I don't know if they gonna get one. I mean, we'll see how things go but I never stop working on that underground material because it gives me the advantage to speak on current events. Who knows, somebody could speak on Banks tomorrow and something would be out by Friday." (Civilized Talk)
Banks' HFM2 charted in the Top 50 after one week in stores last November.
G-Unit member Lloyd Banks' Hunger For More 2 debuted on the chart this week finding a spot at No. 26. After seven days in stores, the "Punch Line King's" newest solo effort managed to sell 44,500 records. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
