Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV release date continues to creep closer and during his recent "MTV Unplugged" performance he revealed plans to attach a surprise to the project.

While discreet with details, Wayne said the "surprise" would only be for his fans.

During the concert he also treated the hundreds of fans who packed a soundstage at Sony Studios to a track off his highly anticipated disc, "Tha Carter IV," with a performance of "Nightmares of the Bottom," where he reflected on his troubles -- with a bit of humor. He's tight-lipped about the disc, which was pushed back to a June 21 release, but did offer a cryptic teaser when asked about it. "Just know that I have a pleasant surprise. A very pleasant surprise for this album when it comes out," he said. "I'm only doing this for the fans. Which I do every ... thing for." (Los Angeles Times)

Last week, Mississippi producer/rapper David Banner revealed his contribution to the project.

"I did about 12 [songs for Wayne]. One thing I respected about Wayne this time, Wayne didn't allow me to go all over the place. Wayne told me, 'Banner, this is exactly what I'm looking for. I know you want to be creative, I know you want to do this, but right now, for the stuff that I have already done on the album, this is the lane that I need.' And I super-served that. [The lane was] just bangers. Nothing that you really have to think about. I'm talking straight, in your face bangers." (Complex)

While it has yet to be confirmed, Jadakiss recently hinted at plans to appear on Tha Carter IV alongside Drake and Young Jeezy.

"I just recorded a joint for Tha Carter IV," says Jadakiss between tokes of his blunt. "I also got to do something for Jeezy's TM103 today or tomorrow. Those joints are going to cover a lot of ground...As far as I know it's a 100%. It's supposed to be me, Weezy, Jeezy and Drake--that's what [Young Money president] Mack [Maine] told me. I can't remember the name of the song but it's pain on the record...It's definitely some deep lyrics, not just some popping bottles sh*t." (VIBE)

A few weeks ago, Young Money president Mack Maine talked about Wayne's new album being delayed from May through June 21st.

"He's still perfecting a few things, he's a perfectionist ... changing a few lines," Maine said in an interview. "We also have a huge record that wasn't done yet. We're in L.A. right now. We have a little studio time and it should be done probably by Monday...If you calculate all of [the guest appearances], by the time we would've finished mixing, we wouldn't have met the [original] due date to turn in the album. So we had to push it back." (MTV)

Tha Carter IV is currently set to hit stores Tuesday, June 21st.
