New York rapper Jadakiss recently provided fans with an update on the long-awaited LOX album and said despite the anticipation, a confirmed release date has not yet been penciled in.
Jada said complications with the amount of contributing artists outside of the LOX has slowed down its progress.
"I don't know what's going on with it," Jada said in an interview. "We're trying to work it out. We're trying to get to a solid number so we can get working. There are a lot of hands in the pot. It's just about catering to all of the hands. It's so many, though; it ain't really that much money to go around, but we're going to work it out or we're going to chop some of these f*cking hands off." (VIBE)
Despite the delay, Jada said fans should rest assured they have plenty of records in their stash.
"We got a bunch of music," he added. "We always do music and then we get discouraged and stop and on top of that we got about an album and a half. That sh*t will probably just go to mixtapes. We got songs right now that if we were to leak them, it would create a buzz, but then it's like what's the buzz for? Politics going to get involved, that's why we don't let any of those sh*ts out. We work every day. We see each other or we work a few times a week, whether it be featuring on a solo or just doing something and stashing it or freestyle together. We ain't done. We're together. We don't have to send postcards. We see each other every day." (VIBE)
In summer 2010, the raspy lyrical emcee blamed industry politics for holding up the LP.
"I'm very confident," Jada said referring to an upcoming LOX album dropping next year. "It's just the business. Getting the music done is the easy part but the whole chambers of, we haven't dropped an album in 10 years, contracts is like crazy, the whole industry is different. And then the publishing situation, it's a lot of things like that that people don't know about that we're trying to make right before we actually go all the way out and finish up the album." Last June, Styles P said the group was working on the album and their own separate projects.
"We working on the LOX right now and all the solos at once -- Sheek solo, my solo, 'Kiss solo, mixtapes. That's our plan for the summer right now," he said. "Since we all in the lab, we going in. Now that we all there at the same time, it brings better energy and better thoughts. Even while I'm working on my solo, I like that input: 'All right, P, go here with it' or 'go there with it.' 'You should do that kinda song.' I was in a Louch session the other day, and somebody was there for beats for him; he got two beats for me. It wasn't nothing there for him in the beat session, but he heard two beats he knew I would like and go in on. It makes for a better energy and better fit. We just working and making our legacy grow. LOX forever." (MTV)
As of now, there is no confirmed release date.
