[SOHH features a new entertainment personality each week to speak on who they feel is the most underrated artist. After Short Dawg gave Jadakiss the title last week, The Clipse's Malice names the late Big L as SOHH Underrated.]

Big L (SOHH Underrated)

Who is underrated? That's a funny question to ask The Clipse, don't you think? I can't name myself, I don't even want to go out like that. Let me see. Who do I think is underrated?

You know it's funny [to get asked that] because I hear people all the time say The Clipse is underrated. You know what I'm saying? And I've always responded to them. I say that I don't feel The Clipse are underrated. I feel every artist gets what they deserve. What they get is what they deserve. I say that because I never want to be the emcee saying, "Oh I did this, I did that. And this didn't go that way. And so and so did this song and it blew up." Nobody wants to be that dude. So I pretty much think the game is fair. I think the game is fair and the same for everybody.

I don't think nobody has a magic stick to make them blow. If they blow, it's because they done did something to deserve it. So that's how I feel about it. And if they didn't, it just ain't there time yet.

I identify with Big L simply because he seemed to get credit after he had passed. Now I may be wrong but it just seems to me a lot of people started giving him his credit after he passed. But I guess once you pass the light gets shined on you and you start looking at what a person has really done.

I just feel like he was underrated and once he passed, and that's when people started giving him his props. I'm gonna ride with Big L. After you pass, a lot of times people start listening and say, "Oh! He really was dope."

For those of you who don't know me my name is Gene Thornton AKA Malice, one-half of the Clipse. Through music my life has been an open book and continues to be. Our fans have made all the difference throughout our career and are still the driving force for why I do what I do. I wanna take a minute to express extreme gratitude to you for your support. At this time I'm going to advise you to buckle up as we embark upon another one of the many facets of Clipse.
