Grammy-nominated rapper B.o.B. recently talked about engaging in a mini-rap battle with Odd Future's Tyler the Creator after getting called out and why the melee was nothing more than music.
Bobby Ray credits his hunger to rap for motivating him to take Tyler's "Yonkers" jabs and respond in the booth.
"I remember when I made that, I was in my basement," the Grammy-nominated rapper told Sway. "I was like, 'You know what, man? I just wanna rap.' So I just threw together a beat and we just leaked it and put it out there...Listen, you cannot accept competition and still be competitive. It's when you lose, when you're on the losing end, that's when it gets serious and escalated. But I think it wasn't really anything that serious." (MTV)
Earlier in the week, B.o.B. said his "No Future" diss was less serious than perceived.
"I feel like some people perceived it as a shot but I feel like people love to hate," B.o.B. explained in an interview referring to Tyler the Creator's jab. "When he said the line, my fans weren't coming at me like, 'B.o.B., he's dissing you, he's dissing you!' Nobody was saying that. So I feel there's some things people can take it. You can take it and just make whatever you want out of it. But I don't harbor any negative emotions at all." (The Source)
Following the track's release, Tyler downplayed B.o.B.'s shots.
"I Didn't Hear My Name Or Nothing About Any Wolves So. Eh.," hetweeted Friday (March 25).
"If It Was A Diss Tho, Crazy That I'm On His Radar. Didn't Know People Took Me So Serious. I'm Officially In The Music Business."
"@bobatl: I don't feel like I was dissed, I actually laughed when I heard the line." See, Yall Take It To Serious.." (Tyler the Creator's Twitter)
The song began bubbling across the Internet a few weeks ago.
Not everyone is an Odd Future fan. Rapper B.o.B. released a diss track Friday morning (Mar. 25) taking aim at the Los Angeles rap collective, on which the Atlanta rapper seethes, "Keep f**kin' with me you ain't gon have no future." "You see the sh*t I gotta deal with from these beginners?" B.o.B. asks on the beginning of "No Future." He closes out the track with, "Body blow, upper cut, I do more than bruise ya/Keep f*ckin with me you ain't gon have no future." (Billboard)
