G-Unit leader 50 Cent opens up about his forthcoming Before I Self Destruct follow-up album and what hip-hop producers he is looking to collaborate with in the new VIBE magazine.
Despite losing a publicized SoundScan sales battle in 2007 to Kanye West, 50 hopes to snag the G.O.O.D. Music head for his new album.
"The usual suspects. I want to get with kanye on this album. See if we can come up with something," 50 revealed in an interview. "I didn't work with [Dr.] Dre yet. I wouldn't hold my project up for [Dre production], but I want to get in to do it. It's always a process. I also worked with Swizz Beatz on this one." (VIBE)
Last month, 50 announced plans to put out a new single within a week.
"I'm putting my first single off my new album out this week Nothing but heat.," he tweeted Monday (April 18). (50 Cent's Twitter)
However, 50 later came forward and revealed his decision to not put out the new record prematurely.
"I tweeted something about the actual single," 50 explained in an interview. "While I'm out here, I gotta meeting and I gotta sit with Jimmy [Iovine], I gotta sit with the guys that push the button. I've done it by myself on my other albums because I've got my own radio staff, and I work the record, then get it to 500 hundred spins and then let them kick in. But I think it's better if I go with the entire building and have everybody on deck so they understand my plans for this project." (MTV)
In January, 50 revealed plans to recruit Eminem, Lil Kim, Lloyd Banks and more artists for his next solo album.
50 Cent stormed Sundance over the weekend to announce his latest film ventures. While there, he also shared some other exciting news, revealing that he's reuniting with Eminem for his next album. "I just flew from Detroit. I'm working with Em on my new album," 50 told a reporter during the Park City festival. The hip-hop mogul has already collaborated with an impressive cast for his fifth studio album including Lil' Kim, Akon, Swizz Beatz, Busta Rhymes, and Lloyd Banks. (Rap-Up)
A release date and name have not yet been revealed for 50 Cent's new LP.
