[SOHH features a new entertainment personality each week to speak on who they feel is the most underrated artist. After Jerry Wonda gave Canibus the title earlier this week, comedian Eddie Griffin names battle rap veteran KRS-One SOHH Underrated.]
Not only am I going to tell you who is SOHH Underrated but I'm gonna tell you who was the most under promoted [artist]. The "Under Promoted" leads to the "Underrated" status and that was always KRS-One.
When you're conscious and you're using hip-hop for what it was actually designed for, which was to communicate the plight of Black people, it gets shut down. When you look at it, our lives were never really getting put out there and hip-hop was really the Black news.
So when you factor that and take in the fact that KRS-One took it into the height of education, you see why he's underrated. You must learn. They'll promote the sh*t out of, "Shoot that n*gga in the head and take his stash" plus this, that and the other. They'll promote all this "I'm slanging and banging and that b*tch got a fat a** and look at my d*ck" and all that other stuff, but when somebody gets conscious, they just don't put the dollars into the promotion behind it. That's what leads to KRS-One being the most underrated.
