[After taking part in SOHH's Top 5 Dead Or Alive match-up against former "(White) Rapper Show" contestant Shamrock yesterday, rapper/reality television star Persia now gives fans an update on her music career.]
I'm working on a mixtape called The Truth. I was halfway into what was supposed to be the mixtape, and then my manager quit on me recently. I was at a point where I didn't know where my path was going. The situation kind of changed who I was.
So I had scraped the whole mixtape and started over. And this is basically what it is. I ran out, got a tattoo that says "The Truth" and I kind of wanted to make my point that I feel like nobody tells the truth [anymore]. So my mixtape is basically the truth.
I'm not really reaching out for collaborations. I kind of feel like I want to do this on my own. I don't want people to be like, "Oh she got this person, she got that person." People from "The White Rapper Show," I don't really stay in contact with them anymore. We really didn't have too much in common but the show. I tried to reach out to Sulle and $hamrock, [but] there's really nothing there but the show to talk about.
Right now I'm trying to put 15 tracks on the mixtape but I have this problem. I can't stop putting music out. I feel like my fans want to hear it so when I record something, I put it out. I think I've put out 10 tracks already for download on my website. So I've tried to start recording about six or seven songs to keep for the mixtape.
Persia is most known for her appearance on Egotrip's "The (White) Rapper Show" which ran from January to February of 2007. The show featured 10 white rappers competing for a $100,000 grand prize. After making it to the sixth episode before elimination, Persia took her experience and began her own venture into the music business by releasing multiple records. She is currently working on a new mixtape entitled The Truth.
