Young Money's Drake stayed true to his word to reach presidential status by performing at a fundraiser for President Bill Clinton last night (March 17) in Hollywood.
Formally introduced by Clinton, Drake graced the stage for the former United State president's Millennium Network fundraiser.
The scruffy star received a presidential introduction from Clinton himself. "Our performer tonight really doesn't need me to introduce him and probably doesn't need me to tell you that you'll like him 'cause he's 40 years younger than I am," joked Clinton. "We do have one thing in common. He was recently nominated for a Grammy and I won two. Unlike me, his first album was No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and he's worked and recorded with a lot of famous people including my fellow New Yorker and friend Jay-Z." A humbled Drizzy took the stage performing "Show Me a Good Time." "I'd like to first of all say how honored I am to be here this evening. I'm a 24-year-old kid from Canada and I truly take tonight as one of the most important nights of my life," he told the audience. "With that being said, let's have some fun." (Rap-Up)
The event was also attended by NBA superstar Blake Griffin.
Attended by the likes of Rose McGowan, Maria Bello and NBA star Blake Griffin, the star-studded event featured a performance by Drake (in a zebra print jacket, no less!). President Clinton kicked off the event with opening remarks, while Drake closed the ceremony with a special performance. The Honorary Ambassadors of the event's hosting committee included Will Arnett, Kristen Bell, Bradley Cooper, Jamie Foxx, Matthew McConaughey, Amy Poehler, Adrian Grenier, Adam Levine, Will Forte, John Krasinski and Michael Strahan. Last weekend, Drizzy confirmed his plans to attend the event via Twitter.
"I got a party with bill clinton on thursday.," Drake tweetedSaturday (March 12) night. (Drake's Twitter)
Clinton's high-profile event aimed to generate awareness to students and activists about global issues.
The foundation focuses on everything from rallying cities to fight climate control change, to education and caring for more than 2 million living with HIV/AIDS. Five meetings of the Clinton Global Initiative and thee sessions of the Clinton Global Initiative University have generated more than $57 billion in funding commitments, per organizers at www.clintonfoundation.org/mn (Deadline)
