With this week's XXL Freshmen '11 list finally unveiled, SOHH reached out to some of hip-hop's alumni and a rap newcomer to get their take on the annual rundown.

In addition to giving SOHH a pre-announced XXL '11 wish list, Freshmen alumni Blu said he keeps in contact with his old "classmates" like Asher Roth and Charles Hamilton.

"I definitely stay in touch with some of the [XXL '09] Freshmen class," Blu told SOHH. "I seen Asher [Roth] the other day, we should be hitting the studio pretty soon. There's been songs that circulated which I've done with Asher and Charles Hamilton. I always salute Currensy when I see him out and about. I feel that's a really dope brother right there. Same with Kid Cudi, it's just dope running into these heads. As far as the new Freshmen class, I definitely think Kendrick Lamar will be up there. I think Pac Division, they've been out way longer but Pac Division should be up there. U-N-I and Dom Kennedy, I know it's all West Coast. I definitely think those heads are bringing it right now." Former Little Brother member Big Pooh also shared some personal picks he hoped to see on XXL's Freshmen '11 list including Kendrick Lamar.

"I definitely gotta go with Kendrick Lamar," Pooh told SOHH. "I've been rocking with him for a few years now so I definitely he's deserving of it. It's crazy because me and my manager had created our own Top 10 list a while ago. I'm trying to think. Look out for Playboy Tre out of Atlanta. He knows how to make songs. I'm a sucker for the creation of songs and he definitely knows how to create a great song. Hopefully he's not even at the apex of his talent. He's just one of them guys and his voice, song structure and just everything, you can hear it coming." (SOHH)

Rap newcomer XV's personal picks all happened to earn spots on XXL's Freshmen '11 list.

"I would definitely have to say Diggy Simmons, he's gonna have a great year," XV told SOHH. "I would also say Yelawolf is another great artist. Kendrick Lamar, he's really shown out in 2010 and now with 2011, it's gonna be a great year. I gotta also say Mac Miller should be in there. Gotta shout him out. I was just in the studio with him not too long ago. And one more pick I'd go with is Cyhi The Prynce. That dude is a hard worker. He's already got the Kanye West co-sign, he's got the music backing him and I think he's gonna be a new break-through for Atlanta just the way OutKast was." (SOHH)
