Newly signed Maybach Music Group artist Wale has clarified his deal with Rick Ross and said despite the move, he still has a business arrangement with Jay-Z's Roc Nation entertainment company.
Writing on Twitter, Wale also promised to still deliver his same style of music despite being associated with "The Boss."
"the music wont change..the energy will! maybach music," Wale tweeted Saturday (February 5).
"and ROCNATION still handles the business! ...shoutout to @richkleiman"
"I still run #boa with @thefuturemogul @treofucb and lil muhammad. And we still got @blackcobain @fattrel@mzsacha and TT" (Wale's Twitter)
In October 2009, Wale discussed his relationship with Jay-Z's Roc Nation.
"Roc Nation is a family so myself, Melanie Fiona, J. Cole -- it's a lot of these new young faces that you'll probably hear a lot more about in 2010 but myself, J.Cole & Melanie Fiona are carrying the flag as far as Roc Nation goes," Wale explained in an interview. "Some of us signed management [deals], some of us signed label [deals] through Columbia I believe. So it's a family, we talk all the time -- it's a family environment. This whole tour has been a family environment...I make what some people believe to be very good music -- and you can never let the hate stop you. I make good music and I make music for the soul." ("On The Air Idiots")
Confirmation of Wale's new deal hit the Internet yesterday.
With the Maybach Music Group still in a middle of a bidding war, the man himself, Wale has confirmed that he officially inked his deal with Rozay's empire, but is still being managed by Roc Nation. Congrats! (Rap Radar)
Around mid-December, Ross revealed his intent to sign Wale and Philadelphia-bred emcee Meek Millz to his label.
"I look for next year to be an even bigger year," Ross said in an interview. "We just brought Jah Cure to the team. That's one of the biggest reggae superstars in the game. We just did a deal with that. Look for that first quarter. I'm talking to an artist out of Philly that I think is the future of Philly. Meek Millz, I'm talking to him right now about Maybach Music. As well as I'm talking to Wale." (The Source)
