News: Tashera Simmons Talks Life Without DMX
Friday, Feb 4, 2011 11:50AM
DMX's ex-wife Tashera Simons recently spoke on living without the incarcerated rapper and what she has been up to since separating from him last year.
According to Simmons, she is now focused on helping abused women.
DMX's number-one supporter and wife Tashera Simmons (currently separated), recently checked in with DJ Superstar Jay and touched up a few new projects in the works. "Since the separation I've created an organization that helps women who have been abandoned or abused and it's just reaching out and trying to help other women, because I was abandoned as a child. I created the foundation because it built a lot of strength in me." Tashera says she's still in contact with her husband DMX and that he should be released from prison this July. In the meantime, Simmons is preparing a reality TV show of her own. (VIBE)
A few months ago, Tashera spoke on X being sentenced to jail for a probation violation.
"He only had three weeks left [of probation], and they set him up," Mrs. Simmons said. "Because he was in a rehab that they put him in because he was driving dirty, and they gave him permission to go do a show. How do you give someone that's supposed to be in a rehab permission to do a show? It was a set-up, and then X, I can't even believe that he even took a drink knowing the situation." X was sentenced to a year behind bars in an Arizona courtroom last December.
DMX, who was arrested for a probation violation in Arizona last month, was sentenced to a year in prison on the charge this morning -- his sixth stint behind bars in the state. The MC said late last month that a sip of alcohol during one of his concerts led to his arrest on multiple charges, including probation violation, failure to submit to drug testing and several drug charges. Last August, X discussed his separation from Tashera and trying to lead a more positive life.
"I'm good, life is good, God is great man," X said in an interview over the weekend with rap personality Super Snake. "And it's gonna get better. With this last one, I had been sitting for 90 days, since like January or February and this whole time, by the grace of God, I was given the opportunity to pick the time. I thought 'Let me knock it out' because I got a lot of work to do in L.A. and I don't want to get snagged, get it over with. It was only 90 days anyway. BFW, baby. Built For War...[Me and my son's] relationship is not the best right now but it's gonna get better. All he's known his whole life is me being there and now me and his mother are separated, we're not together anymore and it's been like five, six years but that's my first born. That's my baby."
