News: Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon Break Silence On Twins

Married couple Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have updated fans on the status of the impending birth of their twins by revealing the gender of their babies.
According to reports, Carey and Cannon will welcome a boy and girl later this year.
The couple, who are having twins, are expecting a boy and a girl, a source confirms to PEOPLE. So far the parents-to-be have been cautious about revealing too many details about the babies since the couple had a "long journey" to parenthood, Cannon said in December. (PEOPLE)
Further details revealed how the couple reportedly found out about the sexes of their twins.
When Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon welcome their twin babies later this year, the new arrivals will be a son and a daughter, a source close to the couple confirms to UsMagazine.com. The insider explains how the pair found out: "They didn't want to know, but when they went to the doctor they wanted to make sure the babies were healthy, and then asked." And now? "They are so excited! They are busy decorating the nurseries [in their L.A. and NYC homes] and using neutral colors now." (Us Magazine)
Last October, Carey revealed that she experienced a miscarriage around 2008.
"The way it happened, so quickly at first, I didn't know what to expect. That was not easy," she admitted. "I've never really been a very forthcoming person about my personal stuff. It kind of shook us both and took us into a place that was really dark and difficult. When that happened ... I wasn't able to even talk to anybody about it. That was not easy." (MTV)
In mid-fall, Carey and Canon officially announced their pregnancy.
"It's been a long journey, Carey said, "but it's been tough because I've been trying to have, like I said, to hold onto a shred of privacy, and that was not easy." Carey added that the baby is due in the spring, though she declined to give a specific date. Rumors of of a pregnant Carey have surfaced and re-surfaced since 2008, when the star married Cannon in a surprise ceremony. At the time, the couple said, Carey was not pregnant, but that soon changed. 'We took the test and it was positive, and we were like, is this real?' Carey said. A little over a month later, however, Carey had a miscarriage. "It was really sad, so we just really had to absorb this and take it in," she explained, while Cannon noted her strength to "be during the day so festive, smiling for cameras and spending time with everyone, and then literally at night, crying herself to sleep."
