Details of his arrest landed online Monday afternoon.
Lawrence Demetrious White, also known as 40 Glocc, was arrested at 7:19 p.m. Sunday along the 2100 block of Chestnut Street and was booked for investigation of gang involvement and carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, jail records show. His bail is $100,000. Gang officers were patrolling the Village Green Apartments on Chestnut Street about 4:30 p.m. Sunday when they encountered White sitting in his black Range Rover near several persons loitering in a carport area, police said in a written statement. A police statement addressing the incident was also issued.
"White was in the presence of other documented Colton City Crip gang members less than a block from the Arbor Terrace apartments at Rancho Avenue and Mill Streets," according to the statement. "The gang officers located a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic handgun with a high-capacity magazine in the passenger compartment of White's SUV." Several of the gang members were arrested on suspicion of violating parole. There is a court injunction against several members of the gang barring them from congregating and participating in criminal activity at the Arbor Terrace Apartments, according to the statement. 40 is reportedly signed to rap star 50 Cent's G-Unit Records label.
White, who is signed to Infamous Records and G-Unit Records, was arrested and booked at the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino on suspicion of various weapons violations, Burguon said. Several others were arrested at the scene for violating parole, he said. A judge ruled in November 2008 that White was a member of the Colton City Crips and that he would be included in an injunction prohibiting 60 gang members from congregating near the Arbor Terrace Apartments in Colton.
