Hitmaker Swizz Beatz has updated fans on the status of his upcoming Haute Living solo album and what fans can anticipate on the new LP.
While the solo project is still in production, Swizzy said hip-hop heads should expect the unexpected.
"I think people are not gonna expect what they're gonna hear on my album," Swizz said in an interview. "I'm very hard on myself with the album because it's like putting on another hat and it's opening up the door for a lot of criticism...Doing this album I said, 'Look, I'm not trying to be the best rapper in the world, I'm not trying to do none of that. I'm just trying to have fun and treat it as [an] art project where I'm expressing myself.'" (MTV)
Last summer, Beatz announced the album title on Twitter.
"MY NEW ALBUM NAME IS (HAUTE LIVING ) BECAUSE THATS MY ART ,FASHION, MUSIC, LIFE STYLE HAUTE MEANS THE HIGHEST LEVEL!," he tweeted August 2010.
"SWIZZ BEATZ PRESENT @HAUTELIVING THE ALBUM FOR MUSIC ART FASHION FOR OUR PEOPLE........GET WITH THE HAUTE LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (Swizz Beatz's Twitter)
Beatz recently said he was going to feature Jay-Z, Drake and his wife Alicia Keys on the LP.
"I'm working on my album which is super incredible," he tells OK!. "Got everybody on there from Jay-Z to John Legend to Mary [J. Blige] to Drake. Super amazing album. I'm also working on Lenny Kravitz new album, working with Cold Play. When you're in album mode and you're in producing mode, working with any great artist you have fun and try to create the best music you can create. On one song [Alicia] just played keys on. I don't know, cause I don't know which one I'm going to use. I have a few songs. I'm probably going to drop my single with Mary before the summer is over. I'm shooting for that and I'm looking for fall to be Swizz Beatz mania." (OK Magazine)
In August 2010, Beatz announced his departure from Universal Motown to Everest Entertainment and Atlantic/Warner Records.
The honeymoon is over for Swizz Beatz. After tying the knot with Alicia Keys and vacationing in the Mediterranean, the producer-rapper is getting back to business with a new album and record deal. If you're not familiar with Everest, that's because the company is mainly known for producing films such as Sony Pictures Classics' Mother and Child, directed by Rodrigo Garcia, and Fox Searchlight's upcoming comedy Win Win. This marks Everest's first foray into the music business. "I couldn't ask to be in a better place right now," Swizz said in a statement. "Both Everest and the Atlantic/Warner team have been great and I'm looking forward to sharing this project with true fans of good music." (Rap-Up)
