Southern rapper Rick Ross has officially announced the name of his follow-up to 2010's Teflon Don album and revealed Young Money's Drake would be featured on the upcoming LP.
According to Ross, his new solo project is about halfway complete.
"I'm in Swisher Studios right now working on my new project," Ross told Power 105.1 radio hosts DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God and Angela Yee. "50 percent of the album [is] already [done]. This is the first time I'm revealing it, but the name of the album is God Forgives, I Don't...One of the records that I excluded off the [Ashes To Ashes] mixtape was 'Made Men' featuring the homie Drake. I wanted to put some final touches on it and I wanted to give you the opportunity to bless the world with that." (Power 105.1)
In summer 2010, rapper Cory Gunz said he would name his own solo project the same title.
"The name of the EP is God Forgives, I Don't. It's ready but I wanted to make sure I could put the project out properly," Cory said in an August 2010 interview. "I'm not trying to flood the market and over-saturate myself. So I'm taking long to keep building the anticipation for this one. With my new situation at Young Money/Cash Money, I felt these songs were too valuable to give away on a mixtape." (VIBE)
Last July, Ross' Teflon Don debuted at No. 2 right behind Eminem.
Grammy-winning rapper Eminem's Recovery has continued its reign atop the charts at No. 1 with 187,200 sold copies. According to Nielson SoundScan, the rapper's latest solo effort has sold 1,669,600 units after five weeks on the charts. Def Jam juggernaut Rick Ross' Teflon Don opened up this week at No. 2. Making his first non-number one solo debut, the "Boss" was able to shell out 176,700 pieces after seven days in stores. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
Drake recently named the rapper's 2010 album his personal favorite of last year.
"Favorite album of this year," Drake said in an interview, "[I'd say] Rick Ross. Rick Ross had the best album of this year, yeah. Phenomenal album." (Billboard)
