[With 2010 now a distant memory, New York rapper Saigon reflects on his biggest regret from last year which ultimately impacted his role as a parent.]
When I think about my biggest regret over the past year, it would have to include my time away from my daughter. My biggest regret of 2010 was not spending enough time with my daughter. I definitely didn't spend enough time with my daughter. The problem is she lives in California and I live in New York.
A lot of times, it's easy to make up excuses [for why] I don't see her as much as I should. I really should though. Even if I have to get on an airplane for six hours a week, then that's what I need to do. I really need to see her more. It's important now because she just turned two, and I would like to make up [for my absence].
This [industry] doesn't play around though. It can drown you and you can be under the water if you let it. We gotta be in our last days, because where do we go from here? Where do you go from here when you can look at somebody on your cell phone while you're talking to them? Eventually holograms will probably pop up. Like, "I'm not really here but I'm here." What's next? What's coming in the future?
Either we're gonna go back or else what's next? You can only go but so far. What can we do from here? Are we eventually going to think about somebody and he's going to pop up in our vision?
Be sure to check back for tomorrow's final "Biggest Regret of 2010" with movie director Vlad Yudin.
