Grammy-winning rappers Jay-Z and Kanye West will officially give fans a taste of their upcoming Watch The Throne album by dropping a new single next week.
Based on a tweet from West, the record's first single will be entitled, "H.A.M".
Kanye West unveils the cover for "H.A.M.," the first single from his collaborative album with Jay-Z, Watch the Throne. The ornate artwork was designed by the creative director of Givenchy, Riccardo Tisci. According to Kanye's tweet, we'll be able to hear the song on January 11. While we count down the days to the premiere, what do you think H.A.M. stands for? (Rap-Up)
Although it has yet to be confirmed, the song's producer is reportedly 19-year-old "Blowin' Money Fast (BMF)" hitmaker Lex Luger.
The song which is being called "H.A.M" by most news outlets, is reportedly produced by one of 2010's breakout names Lex Luger and marks the first official leak from Watch The Throne, an album that was originally going to be a short EP of collaborations between the pair. We've been promised a January 11 leak but these here are the internets and aint no laws around these parts, expect to hear it any day. (RWD Mag)
Earlier this week, Luger announced his involvement on the LP.
"In 2011, I don't want to speak too much on it, but Jay-Z and Kanye West working on an album and he's really messing with me, so I got Kanye West," Luger said in an interview. "I've been working with everybody, a lot of people been saying that 'Lex Luger only got that Waka [Flocka Flame] sound' so I'm trying to take it somewhere else because I do have another sound, and that's where I want to take it for 2011...Jay-Z and Kanye West, that's cool to me. I'm enjoying it. I ain't gon' say that I've really got the feel of this position but I like what I'm doing. As long as my family's straight, that's all I care about." (Rap Fix)
While neither Jay or Kanye have announced an official release date, the project is speculated to drop in early March.
Despite Ye's NYE claim that his joint project with Jigga, Watch The Throne, would drop sometime "this week" , sources close to Kanye and Def Jam have informed me that the album has a solid and official release date: March 1st, 2011. I was also told that the official first single, a track the public has yet to hear, is set to drop on January 11th, but could come as soon as Friday. Perhaps, that's what Kanye meant when he said it was coming this week? (Fake Shore Drive)
