Rap mogul Jay-Z has reportedly expanded his Roc Nation roster by adding 16-year-old sensation Cher Lloyd to his team.
According to reports, Jay's latest acquisition became public Thursday (December 30).
Jay-Z is still building his artist arsenal and recently added 2010 "X-Factor" finalist Cher Lloyd to the roster. However, it wasn't easy for the helm of Roc Nation to bag the sassy rapper-slash-singer. The UK teen was in the midst of a friendly bidding war between Jay and Black Eyed Peas mastermind will.i.am before she officially inked her deal. (VIBE)
The 16-year-old singer was reportedly courted with deal offers from Jay and Will.i.am.
Cher has caught Jigga's attention before Will.i.am set his eyes on the girl. Early this month, Jigga's partner Tinchy Stryder testified, "Cher is a real target for Jay-Z because she's proved she can sing really well, rap - and she's got great stage presence." The insider went on, "After weighing up the pros and cons, it was thought that the team at Roc Nation would be best placed to turn her dreams of stardom into a reality." Now the singer who finished at the fourth place on the "X Factor" is sharing home with young rising star Willow Smith. (Ace Showbiz)
Before Lloyd, the most recent addition to the Roc Nation family was rapper Jay Electronica, as a lavish extravaganza was held to celebrate his new home in November.
Another "Jay" has been added to the Roc Nation roster. It was announced yesterday (Nov. 12) that New Orleans rapper Jay Electronica signed with Jay-Z's personal imprint, joining acts J. Cole and Willow Smith at the recently formed label. And to celebrate, Jay-Z threw a lavish party at New York club The Box that neither Jay E, nor anyone else in attendance, would soon forget. The event -- which kicked off at about 10:15 pm and drew head-turning guests like Beyonce and Omarion -- was a three-ring circus that included sexy burlesque dancers, an aerial gymnast, a Russian hula-hoop master and a girl whose "talent" was having men shoot arrows at balloons that were strategically positioned over her privates. In October, Rihanna announced joining forces with Jay's Roc Nation.
The singer announced Wednesday (October 20) that she will now be managed by mentor and former Def Jam exec Jay-Z's Roc Nation company. The chart-ruling singer spilled the beans to The Associated Press, saying in a statement she's "so excited to take this next step in my career." The "Only Girl in the World" singer joins songstress Melanie Fiona, spitter Wale and DJ/producer Mark Ronson as other faces handled by the management arm of Hov's multi-pronged firm. (MTV)
