News: Fat Joe Bursts Pop Bubble, "I Love Flo Rida & All Them, But I Won't Make That Kind Of Music"

Bronx rapper Fat Joe has discussed his image and why he will not test the waters outside of his musical norm in order to sell records.
According to Joe, he exercises caution with his musical content.
"I'm inspired because I'm all over the world. I love Flo Rida and all of them but I won't make that kind of music. I'll make some party music but it'll be more like urban party music, 'Lean Back' and 'Make It Rain.' Rather than straight pop. Once again, I love Pitbull, Flo Rida and the music they make but some artists can't really be respected if they take that lane. There's one thing to be featured on a hot song like that and do it yourself. When reggaeton got hot the record labels would [be] offering me stupid money to make a Spanish reggae tone album. I featured on a song or two from some people I respected but that's as far as I would go. " (Global Grind)
Joe also said he was looking to drop a new album by next summer.
"I'm working on a new album now, but it's not even a Darkside album, it's a lifestyle album. We gonna do Darkside 2 and maybe the lifestyle will be put out together, Darkside 2 as a mixtape, and the other album, lets not just called it a lifestyle album, will consist of all types of music. Not just underground, hardcore, but everything. The new music is due out around June. I can guarantee there will be some hits on it. It's got production from Jim Johnson, Rico Love, Scott Storch and I'm going to reach out to Scoop DeVille." (Global Grind)
Joe's last album debuted within the Top 30 upon its July release.
Terror Squad frontman Fat Joe's Darkside, Volume 1 debuted on the charts this week at No. 27. After a full week on the charts, the rapper's E1 Music release has sold 12,300 records. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
Prior to the published sales totals, Joe's rap rival 50 Cent mocked the album with a taunting video.
"I just listened to Fat Joe's record and this is all I have to say." 50 then puts up a copy of Fat Joe's Darkside, Volume 1 which has an animated smiley face crying with tears pouring down its face. "I didn't mean to do this to you Joe." 50 then proceeds to mock his rap rival with footage of a woman and men crying, all taken from different sources. The video concludes with a message reading: "Only 5,000 copies sold...d*mn Joe!" (This Is 50)
