Former Roc-A-Fella artist Beanie Sigel has aired out Damon "Dame" Dash for allegedly stealing $11 million from him and explained his fall out with the urban entrepreneur.
According to Sigel, Dame disguised his support for him during his 2004 attempted murder case.
"I ain't loyal to Dame, Dame owes me some money," Beanie said in an interview with radio personality Star. "Yeah. Roughly about, my lawyer, my own lawyer found about $11 million that Damon stole from me. Yeah. It's gone. He filed bankruptcy. I spent a million dollars just to say a person owes me; I have on a piece of paper that say he owe me some money. Who wants to go through that? I haven't seen or talked to Dame in roughly, about five years. Almost six. [During my court appearances], that was a facade [his show of support.] That was smoke and mirrors. It wasn't about Beanie Sigel. That was the Jay-Z/Dame Dash breaking up... If you got Roc-A-Fella in the hole and you got Jay-Z, Beanie Sigel, and then you got Memphis Bleek, State Property, if you couldn't have Jay-Z, who was the next person you'd have? So, yeah, I seen through that. You can't pimp me, you pimp a girl..." ("Star & Buc Wild")
Although Beanie served a yearlong jail bid in 2004 for a gun possession charge, the rapper dodged a murder conviction that same year.
On April 20, 2004, Sigel's lawyer, Fortunato Perri Jr., closed his defense without calling Sigel -- or a single witness -- to testify. Instead, the defense questioned the credibility of the victim, Terrance Speller, and the single eyewitness, David Aimes, who both said that they had been drinking and were high on marijuana when the shooting took place outside a Philadelphia bar in July. The trial of Beanie Sigel for attempted murder ended with a hung jury on Tuesday afternoon at the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia. A mistrial was declared by Judge Karen Shreeves-Johns after jurors in the case deliberated for five days -- one day longer than the trial itself -- and still could not decide on Sigel's fate. Last October, Sigel's financial tax records leaked online and revealed that he owed the government over $1 million dollars.
Rapper Beanie Sigel (SEE'-gul) is facing criminal charges for alleged tax fraud. Federal prosecutors in Philadelphia say the entertainer born Dwight Grant made $1.5 million from 2002 to 2004, but filed no tax returns. The tax charges come in a federal information filed Wednesday. That typically indicates a defendant's cooperation. Sigel's lawyer did not immediately return a call for comment. (Associated Press)
Last year, Dame weighed in on Sigel calling out Jay-Z and dissolving his ties with Roc-A-Fella.
"I love Jay, I love Beans -- what's the reason for beef?" Dash responded in an interview. "That's stupid. What's the reason for beef? People die, people don't feel good -- I want people to laugh...I was hurt for him, more or less, because I know that ain't him. But I don't want to speak on that. Whatever [Beanie's] going through where he's got to do that...I could understand where he may look at things and feel that way. I can see that. He's probably got a lot of people around him and nobody to really tell him what's going on. It was a different environment for Roc-A-Fella back then. I feel bad for those cats. I love those cats. I hate that they struggle. I hate it. I hate to see anybody struggle. I don't embrace that. I'm not one of those dudes that get happy when I hear something bad about somebody I had a bond with. I really loved those dudes." (MTV)
