[With today's release of The Perfect Storm, lyrical monster Twista breaks down the Top 5 reasons you need this album in your playlist.]
1. Fully Cocked Features
Just to put it naked, the biggest reason you should buy my record is [because of] the features I got on the album. So if you're into the music you've got today, I got Waka Flocka Flame on the album. I got my man Yo Gotti on here going down. I got my man Lloyd on the album. I got Raekwon the Chef on the album if you're a Wu-Tang fan. I got the Chris Breezy feature on there, so that's one reason I want people to go out and get it. The line-up [is] off the chain and help me make a classic album.
2. Chef's Special
My favorite record on the album is me and Raekwon, "The Heat," because for me, I felt like I came with a song that totally baffled people who thought all Twista could do is rap fast. Recent Twista fans [only] know fast Twista, but if you've been a Twista fan since day one, I started out spitting straight hip-hop lyrics. I've never been just a "fast" rapper. My song with Raekwon shows y'all my lyrics.
3. Special Delivery
This is a classic Twista album. I feel like if you've been a part of hip-hop for the past 10, 15 years, this is the one you've got to have. I feel like I'm different than a lot of artists that get downloaded and I feel like once you say Twista's name, the first thing that comes to your mind is going to the shelf and getting the album. I think you should get it because it's a classic and it's banging and it's hot.
4. Let Me Be Great
The craziest thing with this album was trying to get songs and samples cleared. That's when it gets crazy. It's like when you start finding out certain songs might not be on the album. For instance, "Make A Movie" was actually a T-Pain feature at first. But then some things started going crazy and I couldn't get the clearance and so the song actually went from almost not making the album to being the first single. But as far as me recording, I was in the studio with Traxster and we were in there having a ball; two scientists well educated in what we do with our formulas and having fun making jams.
5. Givin' It To Ya Straight
For you to go buy the album, it really means everything to me. I pride myself in coming with music that I feel like people need to come to the store and get. That's one thing I really try to do. I try to figure out what is it that will make people want to go out to the store and get it versus trying to figure out another way to get it that might not benefit me. My secret with me is I rap faster than a motherf*cker so if I put my lyrics in the album, then maybe that alone will help people go out and buy it. I also feel like there's not a lot of lyricism out here so you'll want to go out and get this to see what a real emcee is rather than wanting to go out and jump in the club.
You Decide. Will you buy The Perfect Storm?
