Hip-Hop's Nicki Minaj and Jay-Z took over the weekend's taping of BET Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta by dominating with multiple category wins.
Both Minaj and Jay walked away from the event with three trophies.
The 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards was very good to female lyricist Nicki Minaj who collected her fare share of awards on Saturday, October 2. Minaj received the Rookie of the Year, People's Champ and the Made You Look award for her off the wall fashion style. Fitted to kill in a black dominatrix-like outfit, NYC-ish blond bob hairdo, pink nails and lipstick, Minaj grabbed her awards and "ran." "Last year, I was here in anticipation of the cypher," she told the crowd, referring to the artist rap freestyles that run in between the award presentations and performances. "Now I'm here in anticipation of my debut. [Pink Friday, set for release November 23.] "I'm paving the way for girls," she continued. "I wanna thank all the girls of hip-hop." Jay-Z was also able to bag three awards with the Perfect Combo "Empire State of Mind" (with Alicia Keys), CD of the Year (The Blueprint 3) and Best Live Performer. (Singersroom)
Minaj also hit up Twitter to share her reaction to the annual ceremony.

This year's showcase featured a variety of star-studded performances.
Multiple winner Rick Ross opened the show at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center by performing "B.M.F." and "MC Hammer" with Diddy, later bringing out Hammer himself for "Too Legit to Quit." Gucci Mane and Swizz Beatz fired up the stage with "Gucci Time," "Dilemma" collaborators Kelly Rowland and Nelly presented Nicki with an award, Waka Flocka Flame walked off the stage (and later got into a Twitter argument with BET executive Stephen Hill), and Dipset reunited. Rap stars like Kanye West and Ice Cube powered up the event with freestyles.
The Hip-Hop Awards cypher's proved yet again to be one of the highlights of the show with a number of artists taking part in this Hip-Hop Awards staple. Kanye West gave folks a taste of G.O.O.D. Music with a cypher that featured verses from himself, Common, Big Sean, Pusha T, and Cyhi Da Prynce. Ice Cube and Rev. Run kept it all in the family with a cypher that consisted of performances from Diggy Simmons, JoJo Simmons, OMG and Doughboy. (The Boom Box)
