Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj has confirmed recent reports that her highly-anticipated debut, Pink Friday, will now be available a day earlier than scheduled.
According to Minaj, it was the record company's decision to switch her release date.
"Tho the release date (for all intents & purposes) for Pink Friday is 11.23.10 , it will be made available everywhere on 11.22.10," she tweeted Sunday (October 17).
"Albums are generally released on Tuesdays but in rare instances Record Companies will "break street date" and release on Monday"
"Implemented by the Record Company, I am neither happy nor upset by this minor change. ThankYou"
"I know it was posted on blogs but I wanted 2 confirm as I've been receiving lots of questions on it. Hope that clears up the confusion ;)" (Nicki Minaj's Twitter)
The rapper's album cover art hit the Internet last week.
It's Barbie, b*tch! With her highly-anticipated debut Pink Friday about a month away, Nicki Minaj gets dolled up on the album's cover. Alarmingly staring at the camera, the Harajuku Barbie takes the pink motif to the extreme, sitting armless on the ground with her elongated legs in a flowing silver corset, pink stilettos, and a stark pink wig. Originally slated to drop November 23rd, the project was recently speculated to be released a day early.
Nicki Minaj has reportedly moved up the release date of her debut album "Pink Friday." The debut album from Hip-Hop's most popular female emcee will arrive a day early on November 22. This means that Nicki will be going up with Kanye West and his album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy," and Jay-Z's "Hits Collection Vol. 1." Although she had been promoting a November 23rd date, she has now decided to release the album the Monday before Black Friday. (Hip Hop Wired)
Last month, the album's single "Right Through Me" leaked on the Internet.
"I had no clue 'Right Through Me' was going to leak," said the song's producer Drew Money. "All I knew about the record was that they were considering it as a single. I went into the studio with Nicki specifically in mind. We've never worked together before but I just knew it would be the right type of record for her...She called me a few days ago and was really excited about the song. Nicki just nailed it, I didn't even have to touch it after she sent it back. It's already playing it on the radio and it hasn't dropped officially. There's only going to be more to come from us."
