Grammy-nominated rapper Kid Cudi has opened up about moving beyond his troubled past which included run-ins with the law and drug usage.

Despite falling victim to negative headlines this year, Cudi said he has become a better person from his mistakes.

"I'm a lot happier-things are in better order and there's peace within my crew and within myself," Cudi says. "I feel I had to go through the fire to get here and I wouldn't change my experiences for the world. At this point, I'm locked in. I definitely got my sh*t together." (Billboard)

Last month, Cudi talked about wanting to better his public etiquette.

"That's what makes it hard for people like myself, [celebrities,] to go out and do sh*t...I can't take a bite of my burger without having people take a picture of it. It's like I'm a caged animal...I don't trust how I react to people...I just want to do the right thing and react [properly] in certain situations. I just wish someone could teach me how to act. In certain situations, I just don't know. That's the scary part. If some sh*t happens, I feel like I might get myself in trouble. I just don't want to get in more trouble." (XXL Mag)

Recently, the rapper admitted to previously having a drug problem.

"I started doing cocaine to get through interviews, 'cause people wanted to know a lot about my personal life and I wasn't prepared for a 60 Minutes interview every time. Doing bumps I was able to get through the day, but then I would smoke weed to calm me down--it was the only way I could get through the day without people noticing I was doing it... never thought it was a problem, but I was definitely high-fiving death a couple of times. It took a lot for me to talk about sh*t like this on the album. I don't feel like I need to explain myself to anyone besides the fans. My fans don't believe sh*t until they hear me say it. And those are true Kid Cudi fans. I want them to know the story." (Complex)

The rapper was arrested in early June on a drug possession charge in New York City.

TMZ has learned Kid Cudi was arrested in NYC today for felony criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance. Sources say Kid took a 24-year-old woman's phone and slammed it to smithereens. He also allegedly broke the door of her apartment off its hinges. Cops arrived and found a glass bottle of a controlled substance. (TMZ)
