G.O.O.D. Music associate GLC recently talked about his long-awaited Love, Life & Loyalty debut, and why his close ties to Kanye West will not overshadowing its release.
Despite appearing on West's "Spaceship" and "Drive Slow" singles, GLC said the project is a full-circle representation of himself.
"A lot of people may have thought that my album was going to be centered around Kanye. It was going to be 'Kanye, Kanye, Kanye,' but I am an entity within myself, and I am the "-ism", so I have to spread my "-ism"...We all have to grow from "point A" in order to get to "point B", and the day that you stop learning is the day that you die," GLC said in an interview. "I learn something new every day, and I'm constantly in the pursuit of growth. I'm constantly in the pursuit of bettering myself and bettering those that are around me." (MTV)
Recently, GLC spoke with SOHH about why fans should go out and support the new LP.
"A third reason why y'all should go and buy my album is due to the fact that I'm giving you a part of Chicago that you've never seen, something that's never been exposed. It's coming from the perspective of a young man who grew up in an organization that was ran by Larry Hoover from the south side of Chicago. And that perspective has never been brought to the forefront. It's really here for the first time and I know a lot of people are intrigued with this city just due to the fact of the negative press we've been getting but also due to the fact that [United States President] Barack Obama is from here." (5 Reasons Why...)
GLC also said his project gave fans an honest account of his life.
"And at the very least, I want you all to know that the album is whole heartedly, 100 percent GLC in the raw. A lot of people may have different points of view and different speculations on how I may be but at the end of the day, this will take you in depth. It will show you the true meaning behind Love, Life & Loyalty and it will also help you be a better person. I am a man that's gone through several trials and tribulations but as opposed to being a product of my environment, I chose to make it a product of me. I got some cold a** beats and some cold a** raps, so at the end of the day, embrace the concept." (5 Reasons Why...)
Aside from his own album, GLC also appears on Kid Cudi's forthcoming Man on the Moon 2 LP.
"Cudi and I, we've been cool since he came aboard the whole G.O.O.D. Music regime," GLC added. "He came with a record, it was produced by the Blended Babies, that's a group of producers out of Chicago and it has Nicole Wray on the hook, featuring Chip Tha Ripper out of Cleveland and me, GLC, out of the windy city streets of Chicago. And the name of the record is called 'The End,' and I guarantee when you hear it, you're gonna be like, 'D*mn, please don't ever let this end.'" (SOHH)
