Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris has confirmed recent reports that his upcoming Ludaversal solo album is in the works and revealed where the album stood production-wise.
According to the Disturbin' Tha Peace CEO, Ludaversal is still in its early stages.
Ludacris is "just starting to work" on his next album, which he's already dubbed "Ludaversal." And save for acknowledging that he's doing some work with the Neptunes, that's all he wants to say about it. "We're just getting started, so I don't want to give too much information in terms of direction and stuff," the Atlanta rapper tells Billboard.com. "I'll have that information soon. I just don't want to give people the wrong impression." He'll likely work with an array of producers and will be open again to the kind of "hungry, up-and-coming" talents that populate that album. "I don't discriminate," he explains. "I definitely go and look for the big-time producers, but I also make sure that I keep my ears to the street and look for all the hungry ones. It's about getting in there and doing a couple (of songs) with somebody and making sure you pick from the best ones." (Billboard)
Last month, Luda tweeted that he was beginning the project with help from The Neptunes.
Atlanta rapper Ludacris is also in the studio working on his next album Ludaversal. In a Tweet made over the weekend Ludacris revealed that he's currently working with production duo The Neptunes on the album. "Back in the studio with Neptunes. 'Ludaversal' Album. The start button has been pushed." It's still unclear when Ludacris plans on releasing Ludaversal. The album will serve as the rapper's eighth solo studio album. (Hip Hop DX)
Last March, Luda said his album could come out as late as 2011.
"It's not confirmed as of yet. I'm still waiting on a script, but I've been told that they're working on all of that," he previously said about starring in Fast & Furious 5. "Details are sketchy but its called Ludaversal. You'll probably have it at the end of 2010 or somewhere at the beginning of 2011." (Honey Mag)
Last summer, Luda cleared up rumors surrounding the upcoming album's title.
"It must be the biggest rumor in the world," Luda said about his next album being called Cineplex. "It's just really frustrating when somebody puts a rumor out and everyone goes with it. I never remotely said anything about something called Cineplex. Dead that sh*t. It's Ludaversal. That's what comes after Battle of the Sexes." (Rap-Up)
