Controversial rapper Kanye West has pledged to retire from his antics, solely focusing his energy on crafting new music and visuals.
Writing via Twitter, West also talked about drawing inspiration from his Runaway 40-minute noir film screening this week.
"I was so honored and overwhelmed by all of the amazing people that came to the Runaway screening last night at the Angelika theatre," West wrote Thursday (September 16).

Last month, West spoke on looking inward and using joy to create his new music.
"Everyone says all great art comes from pain but I think my greatest art comes from excitement and joy. It's a completely different perspective about being extremely excited about stuff that is only cool to me," West said in a recent Rolling Stone office visit. "Like, when I tweeted, 'What's your credenza game?' I was very excited about that credenza...It was important to not be limited by the art form of rap but to have rap bring it to another level. Is it rap or is it poetry? Is it spoken word? Is it [a] speech?" (MTV)
He has also recently revealed having a new attitude toward hip-hop called the "Rosewood" approach.
"That's the Rosewood mentality, like affluence, like not cursing loud in public, pulling out chairs for your lady, opening up doors...That's where I'm at at 33 and it's ill 'cause I'm at this really good emotional, great place in my life, and they're always saying in hip-hop that you have to be in a dark place to make great hip-hop. I feel like I rap better than I've ever rapped at this point. I be writing raps and I don't even realize how positive they are. They just sound like regular good negative raps." (Rap-Up)
Despite his positive aim, West was dissed in a new "Runaway" freestyle by former Roc-A-Fella labelmate Cam'ron.
Jim Jones and Cam'ron leaked a new song today (September 15) dissing Kanye West over the instrumental to "Runaway," a song Ye premiered this past Sunday at the MTV Video Music Awards. On the track Cam spits, "Kanye you a sucka n*gga/Dissed Dame [Dash], so my attitude is f*ck the n*gga/Stuck to Jigga. How you gon' live with that? Took the beat, now come get it back." (XXL Mag)
