Former Roc-A-Fella artist Cam'ron and Jim Jones have teamed up for a new diss record going after Kanye West and Jay-Z.
The track samples Kanye West's new "Runaway" record.
Jim Jones and Cam'ron leaked a new song today (September 15) dissing Kanye West over the instrumental to "Runaway," a song Ye premiered this past Sunday at the MTV Video Music Awards. On the track Cam spits, "Kanye you a sucka n*gga/Dissed Dame [Dash], so my attitude is f*ck the n*gga/Stuck to Jigga. How you gon' live with that? Took the beat, now come get it back." (XXL Mag)
Details on the now-leaked record hit the Internet earlier today.
So we already had the head's up about the most sensationalized quote in this new freestyle from Cam'ron and Jim Jones....earlier today, two twidvids from last night's studio session appeared. But we still don't really have a firm grasp on the why. In a recent Ustream, Cam's manager Big Joe talks about possibly working with Kanye and Pharrell, and Cam didn't seem adverse to it. Also, sources say that Kanye West has been open to working with Cam again as well, and that intermediaries have been discussing collabos too. Hopefully this doesn't derail that. Or create any awkwardness between Ye's artists and Dipset affiliates. The tree of music has yet to bear all it's fruit! Lol! Jim's intro hints that they're just ruffling feathers. Please hug it out *nh*. (Miss Info TV)
The rift between Cam and Kanye is speculated to have been created when Jay-Z and Dame Dash ended their business relationship in the mid-2000's.
Cam's referring to the 2005 Roc-A-Fella split. Dipset stayed with Dame while Kanye stayed with Jay-Z despite being signed by Dame. Despite the division, Cam and Kanye have collaborated several times in the past. 'Ye produced two songs off Cam's "Purple Haze" album while Cam appeared on West's "Late Registration." (Hip Hop DX)
Aside from West, Dipset's members are currently putting together new solo projects.
"It's a few people that's been getting at us, but the money's not really where we want it to be," Cam said in an interview regarding label negotiations. "So we'd rather distribute it ourselves until somebody comes with the right amount of money. Jim is using the 'Salute' record as his single, so we'll build off of that. But basically, with the Diplomat thing, everybody is gonna do it, but we got obligations. Jim got his album he definitely gotta turn in...[Me and Vado] got this Gunz N' Butta thing. Juelz is putting his album together. Nobody wants to stop where they already have contracts and obligations, but we working too. We got eight, nine songs done." (MTV)
