Chris Brown's mother, Joyce Hawkins, has clarified a controversial statement she made earlier this week, pronouncing Michael Jackson's passing as her son's rebirth.
Via official statement, Hawkins explained the meaning behind her Twitter remark.
"I'm so sorry that the tweet I sent yesterday was misunderstood. What I meant to say is that Chris has always been inspired by Michael Jackson's music and his career." (USA Today)
Her tweet turned heads earlier this week after it posted to her Twitter page.
It all began on Tuesday, when Hawkins tweeted the phrase "Michael Jackson died so that Chris Brown could live!!!" The comment about the June 2009 death of Jackson has since been taken down, but not before it elicited a raft of harsh comments for Breezy's mom. (MTV)
Hawkins claimed her declaration was spiritually inspired.
"THIS TWEET WAS A SPIRITUAL TWEET!!! NO WAY WAS THIS MEANT TO SAY CHRIS WOULD TAKE HIS PLACE. NO ONE COULD EVER DO THAT!!!," she wrote Tuesday (September 7).
"ALL MY TWEETS COME FROM A SPIRITUAL PLACE SO WHEN U DONT UNDERSTAND SOMETHING ITS VERY UNKIND OF U TO CALL ME FOOLISH. GOD BLESS U!!!"
"THE WAY I SAY THINGS R THE WAY GOD GIVES IT TO ME TO SAY IT. I DONT QUESTION GOD I FOLLOW WHAT HE TELLS ME TO DO!!! I ONLY ANSWER TO HIM" (Joyce Hawkins' Twitter)
Late last month, director Spike Lee and rapper Snoop Dogg celebrated Jackson's legacy at a second annual birthday celebration in New York.
It wasn't just another day in the park for Snoop Dogg, who showed up to Spike Lee's 2nd Annual "Brooklyn Loves Michael Jackson" Birthday Celebration in Brooklyn's Prospect Park to pay tribute to the King of Pop on what would have been his 52nd birthday. Snoop performed his hits remixed with MJ's classics and was given a sparkly glove, which he plans to take back to Cali. (Rap-Up)
