Cash Money Records' co-founder Baby recently expressed his enthusiasm over signing DJ Khaled to his label last month and what expectations he has for the Miami producer.
In addition to Khaled, Baby also briefly spoke on acquiring production duo Cool & Dre.
"We got Khaled, he just signed with us, I think he's a hard worker, we work hard, and like I told him, we got a lot of sh*t to do," Baby said in an interview. "We got a lot of things to do, but, Khaled's gonna stand up and do what he do. And Cool & Dre, producers, I think they're the hottest, they known for making hits, and, it was an honor to me. They really like family to me but at the end of the day, it's a business and we're about working hard and that's what I expect from them. Grind it out, grind hard, that's what YMCB [Young Money Cash Money] about. Hard work." (Derick G News)
Last month, Khaled talked about what it meant to be officially aligned with the Cash Money family.
"It's definitely official, and I'm just excited about the new deal with Cash Money. Shout to Birdman, Slim. And free Weezy." Khaled said in an interview. "You know, I've always been a Cash Money member, not officially but I've been a fan forever...[Co-founder] Birdman always loved my work and passion. We've known each other for years, and he's always told me when you fulfill your contract with E1 you always got a home over here. I was going to sign myself, but I called Birdman and he said 'let's get the deal done in an hour.' He just wanted to make it happen." (VIBE)
Prior to Khaled's remarks, Dre shared his reaction to being on the same label as Lil Wayne.
"In 2011 it's all about diversifying your talent and aggressively pursuing opportunities," Andre "Dre" Lyon said in a statement. "It's not about replacing legends and their accomplishments, it's about creating a new legacy to inspire future young business men and women. Catch you at the Heat games, Wade let's get it!" In August, producer Sean Garrett informed SOHH a possible Cash Money deal for him was still in the works.
"We got about four or five other deals on the table right now," Garrett told SOHH about his pending deal with Cash Money Records. "The negotiations is getting real heavy but you know, that's my home team, that's where I want to be so we're just gonna have to make it work. There's a few things that we're still going back and forth on but everything is looking really good and that's family regardless. I got so much love for them. Me and Tyga were just on '106 & Park' ... That'd be really really dope to be there with Cool & Dre. I've known them for a while, Cool & Dre. They're real cool people. I'm like a chameleon, Sean Garrett, I f*ck with everybody. I'm not a person that's hard to deal with. Even though I've been so successful, everybody knows how humble I am, I just do what I do."
