Grammy-winning rapper T.I. recently talked about his self-proclaimed "King of the South" title and why Lil Wayne is the only current artist he considers capable of eventually wearing that crown.

From Tip's perspective, he has too much history and success to allow an average artist to earn his title.

"It doesn't bother me at all," Tip said about his fellow Southern contenders. "Another point I often make is the success of another person, the rise or fall of another individual has no bearing on my title. No matter how much a person does from this day forward, it doesn't take away from the things I've done to this day. I'm gonna have to stop for a long time to let you start for a long time in order for you to catch up, no matter how much you do, and not taking away from anybody, not saying nothing bad about nobody -- you gonna have to do what you're doing right now times two, times three, seven times over in order to be where I am right now...As far as from a standpoint of success, the only person who is in a position to make a claim like that sort would be [Lil] Wayne, as far as success, from a numbers standpoint. As far as longevity and success, that's the only person I feel like can say that." (The Source)

Despite both artists sharing a history of platinum plaques to their names, Wayne edged T.I. for a spot on the Forbes Cash Kings list of 2010 last week.

#1. Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter - $63m #2. Sean "Diddy" Combs - $30M #3. Aliuane "Akon" Thiam - $21M #4. Dwayne "Lil Wayne" Carter - $20M #5. Andre "Dr. Dre" Young - $17M #6. Christopher "Ludacris" Bridges - $16M #7. Calvin "Snoop Dogg" Broadus - $15M #8. Timothy "Timbaland" Mosley - $14M #9. Pharrell Williams - $13M #10 Kanye West - $12M #11. Aubrey "Drake" Graham - $10M #12. Clifford "T.I." Harris - $9M (tie) #12. Kasseem "Swizz Beatz" Dean - $9M (tie) #14. Marshall "Eminem" Mathers - $8M (tie) #14 Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson - $8M (tie) (Nah Right)

Both T.I. and Wayne share a friendship and have collaborated on tracks together over the years.

"Yeah, I speak to him. Sure," Tip in an interview when asked about his relationship with incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne. "Well, his daughter and my daughter, they're real, real close. My daughter spends the night with them, his daughter comes to spend the night with us. I told him, 'Whatever I can do. Whatever it is that's within my power' ... I know how it is with kids, especially with a period of time like that. Even though it may seem like a short time -- to the media, it may seem like 'He got off easy'; to everybody, it may seem like 'It's only a couple of months' -- to a child, that's an eternity. So I'm like, 'Whatever I can do, it's all good.' I just let him know there's people out here who's still reppin' for him, people who will go above and beyond to do whatever needs to be done." (MTV)

Aside from comparisons, Tip is currently preparing for this Friday's release of his new film, Takers, which has caused his King Uncaged album to be delayed.

"I pushed the album back so I can completely focus my attention to the rollout and release of this film Takers," he said. "I feel it wouldn't be fair to the film or the album if I was splitting my attention span amongst the two, so I hit pause on the album to completely focus my attention to rolling out this here film. And once we prayerfully debut No. 1--25-plus, 20-plus million--then after those bottles have been popped and that celebration [is] underway, I will completely resubmerge myself back into the music, fully on album mode."
