Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West has updated fans on where he stands with choosing the title of his upcoming follow-up to 2008's 808's & Heartbreak album.
Writing via Twitter, West informed his fans he was inching closer to an official title.
"Really close to finally picking the official album name," he tweeted Wednesday (August 25) night.
"I hate when people email you and ask "You wanna know something?" of course but why are u torturing me by spreading this to more than 1 email." (Kanye West's Twitter)
According to the rapper's "Power" director, Marco Brambilla, the new album is currently titled Dark Twisted Fantasy.
"That's exactly what I like about his music. It's the anti-Tiger Woods moment, you know? This ['Power' video] is really about that. The new album is very personal, too, and the various tracks on the album suggest things that have happened to him. This is the most epic track. It was a really great opportunity to show a moment of defiance and a moment of self-awareness. It's that combination that he has as an artist that's very peculiar...I've heard [Dark Twisted Fantasy] is the latest name. I would say not locked-in, and it would probably not get locked until closer to the time of the album release." (New York Mag)
Writing on Twitter last month, Ye surprised fans by deciding to recall the previously announced Good A** Job album title.
"The album is no longer called "Good A** Job" I'm bouncing a couple of titles around now," Kanye West revealed via his newTwitter page on Wednesday (July 28). (Kanye West's Twitter)
Aiming for a November 16th release, West recently talked about wanting his new LP to be filled with joy.
"Everyone says all great art comes from pain but I think my greatest art comes from excitement and joy. It's a completely different perspective about being extremely excited about stuff that is only cool to me," West said in a recent Rolling Stone office visit. "Like, when I tweeted, 'What's your credenza game?' I was very excited about that credenza...It was important to not be limited by the art form of rap but to have rap bring it to another level. Is it rap or is it poetry? Is it spoken word? Is it [a] speech?" (MTV)
No further details have been released as of now.
