News: M.I.A. Stores Away Perfect Song For Jay-Z, "He's Never Done Anything Like [This]"

United Kingdom rapper M.I.A. recently talked about her admiration for Jay-Z and said she has the "perfect" song for the hip-hop veteran.
The "Swagga Like Us" collaborator called her potential Hov record "insane."
"I really want to produce for him. ... I have got the perfect song for Jay-Z!" she smiled. "In fact, that's the best one that I had for my album which never made it. [It was] the first song I was really into and the song that actually made my album go in the direction it did, [but it] never actually made the album. But I want to give it to [Jay-Z], because I think it suits him more. It's insane. He's never done anything like that." (MTV)
Despite her respect for Jay, M.I.A. recently said she would choose Nas over Hov as her favorite emcee.
"I love Nas records, in the car, in the radio, or whatever," M.I.A. told radio personality Angie Martinez in an interview. "[One day] I'm having a conversation with the cab driver and he's asking me [who I like better between Jay-Z and Nas], and I like both of them equally, but, yeah, Nas. Of course I have love for Jay-Z, I've performed with him and he's on my remix and stuff like that, and at the same time, it's important that people respect Nas because he's done a lot because and I'm making sure that people know that about him. Just because he's not like a private jet around the world, yacht, kind of guy, that needs to sort of be clear." (Hot 97)
M.I.A. also recently gave her opinion on what separates the rap veterans.
"Jay became the biggest representation of rap music who's still alive, started dating Beyoncé--everything was so much bigger and better with Jay-Z. I hope people don't think that that wins. The fact that Nas didn't become all this sort of stuff changes people's perception about the music and the work he achieved in his lifetime. I don't wanna say Jay-Z sold out, but I just feel like we have to wait another 10 years to see what happens. Jay-Z's ambition was to become like Frank Sinatra, a household name all over the planet, and own a casino in Vegas and stuff like that. And I think Nas was really sticking to knowledge. I still think the biggest point about hip-hop is in there somewhere, what happens to those two artists." (Complex)
Nas talked about Jay's ambition to stay on top of the rap game earlier this year.
"[Jay-Z] is the one that smacks everybody in the face that's out there and wanted to say what he wasn't and what he couldn't do. The challenge is that people always count you out and even when you have a hit record and put out a hit album, you're gonna have people dissing you. I think he's showing you: I won't be stopped ever. And that's motivation for everyone else." (VIBE)
