Rap mogul Diddy showed his support for Jay-Z and Eminem by attending their secret "Late Show With David Letterman" performance in New York City last night.
Sharing his post-show reaction, Puff maintained that he was only lending support as a music fan.
"Oh it was great, it was incredible," Diddy said in an interview. "It was a lot of fun. You know, Hov and Eminem in New York, rooftop, summer time, it can't get no better baby. I was just here as a fan." (My Fox NY)
Reports claim both artists performed tracks from their latest albums.
First up was Eminem who performed "Not Afraid", a tell-all track and the first single from "Recovery." Em looks like he's in great shape, slim and focused and unfazed by the blazing hot sun. After a break Jay-Z hit the stage, teasing some requests from the crowd then launching into a rowdy rendition of "On To The Next One" from "The Blueprint 3." (CBS News)
The performance will air later this week on David Letterman's night show.
The duo's performance will air on this Friday's episode of the "Late Show With David Letterman" and will promote the pair of upcoming shows the rappers will co-headline at the end of the summer. There will be one show each in New York and Detroit (the two hometowns for the chart-topping MCs). The pair will play Comerica Park in Detroit (home of the Detroit Tigers) on September 2 and then appear at Yankee Stadium on September 13. (MTV)
After reportedly being canceled by New York's Mayor Bloomberg last week, the show still managed to take place last night.
The rapper has taken to the rooftop of the Ed Sullivan Theater this afternoon to rehearse a surprise show with Eminem -- just days after the mayor canceled his planned performance from the theater's marquee. The two are currently strolling the rooftop and doing microphone checks for a taping of the "Late Show with David Letterman" later this afternoon, sources said. The NYPD said a permit was not required for the rooftop performance. (NY Post)
