Cash Money Records' Bow Wow recently spoke on his past struggle to land magazine cover features and revealed his determination to grace XXL Magazine.
Writing via a blog post, Bow Wow talked about his magazine cover hustle.
"So today i'm shooting my cover for Murder Dog mag. I'm excited because i remember when it was hard for me to get covers on some of hip hop's magazine. It took a long time to get source cover, but eventually i did. if only i can get XXL, But thats another story," he wrote Thursday (June 17). "I just say respect the work, and music. At the end of the day its all about politics. So all my fans be on the look out for the cover. Also check back here later, i will upload more pics from today's shoot." (Who Is Shad Moss)
Recently, Bow Wow talked about his relationship with Cash Money/Young Money labelmates Nicki Minaj and Drake, both whom were recently featured on the cover of XXL.
"[Me and Drake,] we're the same age so we have a lot of similarities. It's all love. We don't really have conversation like that, just once in a blue moon. 'What's happening? Congratulations on your success,' stuff like that. We're all so busy, that's something a lot of people don't understand. Drizzy's all over the place, you got me with the movie thing, Nicki's doing her thing and of course Lil Wayne and all the Young Money imprint is busy working on different areas so we don't get a chance to really all hang out. But when we do, we do it big." (VIBE)
In 2009, Bow Wow said he would be retiring from the rap game.
"This is my last album because for me, there's no more that needs to be done on the music side, I've done everything," Bow explained. "And the scary thing is I'm 22 years-old and I'm young. I'm still a baby, so it's kinda like on the music side, I've been doing it since five. That's 17 years of non-stop music, music, music. There's nothing more to accomplish that I haven't seen yet...I feel like now it's time to endure a new challenge...Close the chapter on the Bow Wow legacy...As far as albums, I'm good. Seven albums at 22, that's crazy." (Real Talk NY)
Last year, the rapper signed a deal with Cash Money Records.
"To the naysayers, I hope that you give me the opportunity to earn your respect," he wrote Tuesday (August 18) night. "I know that over the years I've put many of my faults on display which I make no excuses for. I'm young and I've made mistakes and I will make more. No different than any other 22 year old, I still have some growing up to do...To anyone who's confused or says I don't belong in Cash Money. Let me remind you that I've been down with Baby, Slim, Wayne and the whole Cash Money family from the beginning." (Global Grind)
