Former XXL Magazine Editor-In-Chief Elliott Wilson has shared his reaction to Shyne's return to rap and gave his thoughts on the emcee's recent 50 Cent diss.

Wilson also suggested that Shyne had teamed up with rap mogul Irv Gotti.

"Shyne keeps callin' me but I don't wanna pick up," Wilson wrote Monday (April 19). "I hate it. Hate that he keeps callin'. Hate what I would have to say him. Hate the way he sounds. Hate what people are saying about the way he sounds. Really hate what people are saying about him. Ask around. Find out, he wants to sound like that. Doesn't ever want to be viewed as a Big soundalike again. Never again. Won't accept criticism. Constructive or not. But then what could I tell him? It's not really my job...Hear he's working with Irv Gotti now which might explain him jumping all over the current big hits last week. Like Irving too but don't like the moves he's making. Hate that Po's reigniting an old tired beef with 50 Cent. Hate what bloggers are saying about him." (Rap Radar)

On the Alicia Keys "Un-Thinkable" track, Shyne dedicates one line to the G-Unit leader.

Besides spitting game to a woman, he throws a jab at old rival 50 Cent. More than five years ago, 50 and Shyne traded disses around the time Shyne's Godfather Buried Alive was released, when Shyne was still behind bars. "I need a couple million, f--- 50 cents," he spits on the new track. (MTV)

Following Shyne's diss, G-Unit's Lloyd Banks addressed the subliminal.

"I didn't hear it, actually," Banks explained to hip-hop personality Miss Info. "I spoke with Fif today -- he just laughed about it. I heard some other things that Shyne put out and I'll be the first to tell you and the world, he's very, very wack. I'm telling you right now, it was something in the foodor something, he's at a D-Class rapper right now. You know how the dude that wakes up and 'I'm a rap right now because my homie's doing it.' You don't hear it? What kind of style he's got right now? I'm not digging that right now...I didn't know what to think..." (Miss Info TV)

While incarcerated in 2004, Shyne explained dissing 50 on his "For the Record" track.

"I was just falling back, then I got word he said something he wasn't supposed to say," Shyne explained. "It's one thing if he would have said it and stood by it; 'That's what I said, you have a problem, whatever!' But he said it and at the same time he was trying to sign me to G-Unit Records. There's an interlude where Sha Money is calling me, 'Yo, 50 wants you to sign to G-unit.' He's reaching out to all my sets [in the street] trying to sign me to G-Unit. [50] used to rap about me before he got big. He tried to do a song with me, so he knows who I be." (VH1)
